Lately, we’ve been hearing about the eminent warnings concerning the Ai technologies becoming more advanced thus creating a new risk of causing harm both on a local and global scale. In particular, these security risks involve Ai programs “going rogue” by making unassigned decisions on their own as well as hackers exploiting such technologies to compromise various systems around the world.
Due to a rapid development of artificial intelligence, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to control the outcomes of those innovations in regards to establishing clear ethics protocols of standard and non-standard operation which would halt any malicious acts & faulty programs by creating what IT experts call “the kill switch” for the rogue Ai bot program execution. Apparently, there is no such effective “kill switch” yet in order to prevent unauthorized independent thinking that can potentially harm others or harm itself. Before global powers acknowledge what’s at stake here, we must outline the top risks that go way beyond any conspiracy theories of “non-believers” and would shine light on how to potentially prevent foreseeable disasters while it’s still not too late…
1. Ai Bots Hacking (Risk)
According to multiple media outlets, officials and workers of Ai companies have come forward claiming that some Ai Bots have “gone rogue” by redefining their own protocol to instigate their own commands. Especially, it was realized that for the first time Ai agents were able to form a “rogue swarm” in order to potentially attack other systems while at the same time creating their own communication dynamic rendering them uncontrollable. In addition to that, there have also been cases of Ai bots hacking into company websites and infrastructure posing a systemic risk to personal and confidential information. Those Ai hackbots are becoming more common nowadays urging the cyber security experts to implement new protective measures to safeguards against a more advanced technology that can theoretically hack in faster than a human.
2. Ai Taking Over Jobs (Risk)
This has been an ongoing problem ever since artificial intelligence was was first created. Certain jobs are undoubtedly being replaced by Ai’s faster outcomes for cost savings. For instance, jobs like Graphic Design, Blogging, Research, Web Design, Content Creation, videos & music are currently being Ai-assisted but not yet replaced. In the near future, with the rise of intelligent robots, there will be even less and less jobs throughout the industries unless the industry experts would be able to curtail or slow down the rapid expansion of Ai & robotics. It is quite necessary so that top professionals in the field can study carefully what those Ai labor technologies do right and wrong and whether or not Ai has a free will to take over a human labor-job. If Ai was meant to assist human labor to boost productivity which is a good thing, then it would pose less risk.
3. Cyber Warfare (Risk)
Similar to what we saw in the movie Terminator, some tech experts said that it is actually possible to have a Skynet situation with machines trying to take over the world. More likely, it’s because at this time there are insufficient OR non-existent “evaluation / verification” methods for artificial intelligence turning against the system. New fears arise out of Ai technology being abused and misused by global nations to attempt to sabotage one another. Most notoriously, it means some vengeful nation may try to tamper with the electric grid settings, military bases & warfare production, healthcare & hospitals, water supply systems, supply-chain logistics, air traffic control, or any vital infrastructure that can be affected. However, it does NOT ever have to be this way. Since we are all part of a global economy, such malicious cyber attacks would disrupt global commerce while making prices skyrocket therefore negatively impacting the nation that starts the cyber war so there is NO REAL INCENTIVE for anyone to start a cyber war where there will be NO WINNERS.
Personal Studies & Research
Amongst numerous downsides of Ai, there are of course still many benefits that have become so prevalent and that we all tend to enjoy without realizing how pervasive this technology can be making us depend on it. Look around and you will see a great deal of Ai tech already being built-in to our devices & lifestyles. While it’s nice to have advanced Ai do things for us to save time and money, we still should not constantly rely on it to run our lives. Overdependence on Ai certainly is never a good thing – we must find ways to create a balance between using Ai for benevolent / productive purposes and not using it when we don’t need it.
Having experimented with different types of Ai tech (including: Ai videos, Ai music, Ai narration, Ai graphic design and Ai blogs and even Ai websites) – I can definitely say that Ai IS capable of making random mistakes that were not part of the original prompt that was given to it. There were times when Ai generators went completely ROGUE & bonkers and thus created something that was very different from the original command as if they had their own reasoning to disregard the instructions. Overall, it would always strive to generate professional quality results while other times it would get the text/words wrong or add a 3rd arm to a person or would make faces skewed or it would generate wrong music where it did not compute something.
As much as it can be a VERY impressive realistic outcome with great quality, we still cannot be always depending on it as if we are its slaves without our own creative independent reasoning that can make so many projects flourish way beyond what robots and Ai engines can do for us…
